Over 2,500 runners join Hanoi International Heritage Marathon
The organizing board expects the event will become a good chance for visitors to experience the beauty of the millenary capital city.
On October 21, more than 2,500 runners took part in the 2018 Hanoi International Heritage Marathon in Vietnam’s capital city.
The event was organized by the Dai Bieu Nhan Dan newspaper in coordination with the Duc Huong Anh Limited Company.
The event was the first international marathon running through Hanoi Old Quarter. In addition, the event aims to celebrate the 64th anniversary of Hanoi's Liberation Day and 30th establishment anniversary of Dai Bieu Nhan Dan newspaper.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Editor-in–Chief of Dai Bieu Nhan Dan Newspaper Do Chi Nghia said that the organizing board want the 2018 Hanoi International Heritage Marathon to become a destination for thousands of runners both at home and overseas to together inspire a positive lifestyle and experience the beauty of the millenary capital city.
In addition, the organizing board expected the Hanoi Heritage Marathon to become an annual event to promote the beauty of Vietnam’s capital city among international friends and make tourism a local key industry.
Accordingly, more than 2,500 runners from nearly 50 countries and territories participated in the 42-km marathon, 21-km half marathon, 10-km and 5-km runs which all start from the Ly Thai To Park. The first heritage marathon connected three main historical attractions of Hanoi, which are Hoan Kiem Lake, Long Bien Bridge, West Lake, and Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, etc.
Concluding the marathon, the organizing board presented first, second, third prizes to 18 runners. Ha Van Nhat (Vietnam) finished first in the 42-km race for man, while Pham Thu Hue won the 42-km race for woman.
Do Quoc Luat finished first in the 21-km race for man, while Nguyen Thi Oanh won the 21-km race for woman. Nguyen Trung Cuong topped in the 10-km race for man, while Le Thi Lan won the 10-km race for woman.
