Hanoi Times – The number of websites with the “.vn” domain name is rapidly increasing, said the Vietnam Internet Centre (VNNIC) under the Ministry of Information and Communications.
By the end of March 2008, VNNIC had granted more than 62,000 “.vn” domain names, much higher than the number of international domain names, at over 40,000.
Domain names with Vietnam’s national code have become more attractive because second-grade “.vn” domain names are shorter and more convenient for Vietnamese enterprises. In addition, “.vn” domain names are safer and protected under the Vietnamese IT Law.
VNNIC has transferred the job of registering, caring for and collecting fees from registrations for domain names ending in “.vn” to domain name register service providers, including FPT, Hi-Tech, VDC, PA Vietnam, Netsoft, ESC, Matbao, GLTEC, EURODNS and NetNam.
