The language of art can help strengthen the good relationship between the two peoples and countries.

An art exhibition featuring 120 Vietnamese-themed pictures painted by Ukrainian artists is underway in Kiev, Ukraine until February 27.

The cultural event is organized by the Embassy of Vietnam in Ukraine in collaboration with the association of Ukrainian painters and the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine (MinCult) to mark the 30th anniversary of the Vietnam-Ukraine diplomatic relationship (1992-2022).

Featured in various types and genres, the paintings depict the beauty of Vietnam’s natural landscape and people. After Kiev, the exhibition will then be displayed in some major cities in Ukraine throughout 2022.

Speaking at the exhibition opening ceremony, President of the Association of Ukrainian painters Kostiantyn V. Cherniavskyy said it offers a chance for the public to explore the beauty of landscapes and people of both countries.

“Culture and art are boundless. It would be a bridge that helps connect the two nations and their peoples as well as makes the world a better place,” Cherniavskyy stated.

Some Vietnamese-themed pictures painted by Ukrainian artists are on display at the exhibition.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Ukraine Nguyen Hong Thach, for his part, stressed that “a painting is worth more than a thousand words.”

“Art helps bring people from the two countries closer together and improve their mutual understanding,” he said.

Ukraine and Vietnam established diplomatic relations on January 23, 1992. The two countries have sought to expand their trade and economic ties since then.

For Vietnam, Ukraine is an important trade partner in Europe, thanks to the long and historical ties between the two nations that dated back to the Soviet era.

Two-way trade has witnessed robust growth. Vietnam exports agro-forestry and seafood products, garments, and footwear to Ukraine and imports from this country steel, fertilizers, machines, equipment, and chemicals.
Ukraine has invested in four projects in Vietnam with a combined capital of $24 million, mainly in shipping, hydroelectric power, and vegetable and fruit processing.

So far, there have been around 1,400 Vietnamese students in Ukraine and 25 Ukrainian students are now studying in Vietnam.
