Photo exhibition “Family - A loving home” opens in Hanoi

The exhibition, praising the values of family bonds, takes place from June 28 to August 28 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Vietnam Family Day (June 28).

The stories about Vietnamese families will be told via photos on display at a photo exhibition entitled “Family - A loving home” which is underway at Vietnam Art and Cultural Exhibition Center, No. 2 Hoa Lu, Hai Ba Trung district, Hanoi.

The first part of the exhibition titled “Vietnamese Weddings - From the Past to Present” showcases photos of Vietnamese weddings in the anti-American War (1956-1975), during the subsidy period (in the 1980s), after the Doi moi or renewal process (1986) and in the modern days. Quite a few photos of the wedding customs of ethnic minorities are also displayed at the exhibition.

The thematic area entitled “Family – Loving Home” features visual stories that show the close relationship, love, and even conflicts between husband and wife, parents and children, between siblings in Vietnamese families.

The third part of the exhibition - “Pervasive Joyfulness: Happy Family - Peaceful Society”- introduces the contribution of Vietnamese families to the development of the country with images that showcased the Government's policies on fostering Vietnamese families - considered ‘cells of society’.

“The family plays a central role and position in the socio-economic life of Vietnamese people. Strong, loving, and connected families will help spread the good things and contribute to the development of the nation,” the exhibition organizers stated.

In addition, the call to overcome existing weaknesses in Vietnamese families such as gender inequality, domestic violence, among others is also implied in the photos.

Visitors to the exhibition also have the opportunity to see the images of Vietnamese families overcoming difficulties posed by the Covid-19 pandemic together.

The online exhibition is also available at http://trienlamvhnt.vn and http://baotangphunu.org.vn.

Vietnam Family Day has been celebrated annually since 2001.
