As many 500 photographs featuring the history of Vietnam`s National Assembly (NA) has just been published in a photo book by the Vietnam News Agency Publishing House.
Titled 70 Years of the National Assembly of Vietnam, the bilingual pictorial book, aims to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the first democratic election in the country (January 6, 1946- January 6, 2016).
The book is divided into four parts covering the founding of the NA (1946 to 1960); the period of building Social Republic in the north and liberating the south (1960 to 1976); the period of doi moi (renewal) (1976 to 2011) and the 13th NA (from 2011- till now).
The photos have been collected from the file stocks of the Vietnam News Agency, the NA Office, museums throughout the country as well as personal collections of national leaders.
"If television, printed and online newspaper provide an audience with up-to-date information, our pictorial book reviews historic turning points of the country, which highlights the role and contributions of the NA during the process of protecting and building the country," Le Thi Thu Huong, editor-in-chief of the publishing house said.
