President Donald Trump’s visit to Vietnam announced to take place in November
Sources from Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said at meetings with Vietnamese DPM and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh, US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and National Security Advisor McMaster pointed out that US president Donald Trump will attend APEC summit in Vietnam and visit the country next November.
Vietnamese DPM and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh stressed Vietnam's consistent policy of developing an independent and sovereign foreign policy of multilateralization, diversification and active integration into the world. Vietnam attaches great importance to and is willing to work with the US Admistration to consolidate and deepen the comprehensive, stable, long-term, constructive and mutually-beneficial partnership on the basis of respecting each other’s independence, sovereignty and political systems.Concerning regional and international issues, Rex Tillerson and McMaster affirmed the importance of maintaining peace, stability, security, and freedom of navigation in East Sea, supporting for the settlement of disputes in East Sea by peaceful means, based on diplomatic and legal processes and on the basis of international law, particularly the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea 1982 ( UNCLOS, respecting for the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), towards the Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC).
At the meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh, US Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin highly valued economic and trade relations with Vietnam. He expressed the desire that the two sides continue to cooperate to promote mutually-beneficial trade relations. Minister Mnuchin said that the US supports Vietnam's access to World Bank's IDA concessional loans in line with Vietnam's conditions in the coming period as well as its cooperation in the APEC 2017.
