President Truong Tan Sang has praised the revolutionary media as real soldiers who, with pens and paper as their weapons, have made worthy contributions to the cause of national liberation, construction and defence.
Addressing a ceremony marking the 90th traditional day of the Vietnamese revolutionary press (June 21, 1925-2015) in Hanoi on June 21, the President said the press has grown along with the revolution while serving the revolution and the nation.
He called on the media to continue presenting the accurate picture of the country’s development, while fulfilling its role as a bridge connecting the people with the Party and the Government.
The President stressed that the coming time will be very important for the country, so the media should continue increasing its quality of work to strengthen the people’s trust, as well as upholding its leading role on the ideology front.
Also at the ceremony, the national press awards for 2014 were presented to the winners, with nine A prize, 26 B prizes and 54 C prizes. The prize-winning works were selected among more than 1,460 entries.
