Hanoi promotes tourism among visitors attending SEA Games 31

The capital city and its neighboring provinces introduce attractive tourist destinations, products, and services to international visitors.

Themed “Hanoi - Den de yeu” (Hanoi- Visit It to Love It), Hanoi Tourism Festival 2022 is an opportunity to promote the image of a safe and friendly capital on the occasion of the 31st SEA Games. That is the affirmation of Nguyen Manh Quyen - Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee at the festival’s opening ceremony last weekend.

The festival was organized with various new and impressive features. Besides advertising through booths and miniature models of landscapes such as Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Temple of Literature - Imperial Academy, Hoa Lo Prison, and Hanoi’s Old Quarter, among others, the festival also showcases a “technological wall”. By just touching the icons, visitors will be taken to many different tourist attractions through an interactive LED screen.

This year’s festival involves the participation of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and nearly 100 businesses, including big names like Vietnam Airlines, Hanoitourist Corporation, Capital Tourism Club, and Vietravel Company, among others.

In addition to Hanoi as the host, nine provinces and cities with tourism potential also sent representatives to the event, namely Yen Bai, An Giang, Khanh Hoa, Quang Nam, Thua Thien - Hue, Quang Binh, Ha Giang, Lai Chau and Phu Tho.

Coming to the festival, visitors would be offered many preferential tours included in the tourism stimulation program of Hanoi as well as other provinces and cities. Besides learning about tours, they can also discover a number of traditional craft village products such as Ha Thai lacquerware, Thuy Ung fine art horn, or Quat Dong hand embroidery, together with Hanoi’s typical dishes like Thanh Tri steamed rice rolls, Phung spring rolls, Son Tay crystal rice cakes, Hang Than rice flake cakes, and West Lake lotus tea.

Opportunity to find preferential tours at promotional prices

As a companion to the Hanoi Tourism Festival 2022, Nguyen Thanh Duong - Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines Northern Region Branch, said that during the event, the business will organize an online supply-demand matching program, through which consumers will have more access to tourism products offered at preferential rates by travel businesses.

On this occasion, a number of new tours are introduced, such as the one to discover the ancient pottery village of Bat Trang, another to unravel the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, and so on.

Taking place from May 13 to15, the festival has attracted around 30,000-50,000 visitors who come for onsite experiences. Vu Ngoc Anh, from Hoan Kiem said that Hanoi Tourism Festival 2022 is a good opportunity for her to get more information about upcoming summer tours.

“I have booked a tour for the whole family this summer at a travel agency. I think tourism fairs like this will provide a good opportunity for the Hanoi residents to access promotional packages that are directly provided by travel agencies, especially learn about demand stimulation programs launched by hotels, airlines, and tour operators,” she said.

According to Deputy General Director of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) Ha Van Sieu, the event will create favorable conditions for tourism businesses to develop networks and markets, seek partners, as well as associate their products with inter-regional ones.

“The festival is attracting domestic and international tourists to Hanoi, encouraging Hanoians to travel around the capital city and to other provinces and cities across the country, thereby enhancing the recovery of the tourism industry,” he stated

Director of the Hanoi Center for Investment, Trade, and Tourism Promotion (HPA) Nguyen Anh Duong shared that, the Hanoi Tourism Festival 2022 being held during SEA Games 31 would create opportunities for businesses and craft villages to advertise tourism products and services.

According to the Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, the festival was an important event, as a confirmation that Hanoi had returned to the new normal in terms of tourism activities in particular and all aspects of life in general.

“Tourism is increasingly regarded as one of the significant economic sectors, which plays a positive role in the overall development of the economy. Therefore, Hanoi city expects every citizen to promote the image of Hanoi’s culture and people, thereby attracting domestic and international tourists to the capital,” Quyen emphasized.
