Various annual spring festivals have opened in the northern province of Quang Ninh to celebrate the National Tourism Year 2018-Ha Long-Quang Ninh.

Ngoa Van Spring festival in Dong Trieu township, which started on February 24 (the ninth day of the lunar year), welcomed 25,000 visitors on the first three days, according to the festival management board’s report.
Quang Ninh province has been restoring its historic and cultural relics. Notably at the Yen Tu relic site in Uong Bi city, authorities have been working to ensure social order and traffic safety and prevent fire and explosion risks. Kiosks will be arranged to introduce tourism products and services to visitors.
In addition, Quang Ninh province has made upgrading infrastructure in the Yen Tu spiritual tourism site, including upgrading the road to Yen Tu relic site and the construction of a new cable car system to prevent traffic congestions in preparation for Yen Tu festival. Quang Ninh also stepped up monitoring and management at the festivals to ensure safety for visitors.
The province, home to the World Heritage site of Ha Long Bay, is the host of the National Tourism Year 2018 themed “Ha Long-Heritage, Wonder, Friendly Destination.” It is projected to host at least 51 cultural, sports, and tourism events throughout the year. Highlights include the opening ceremony and Carnival Ha Long 2018 in Ha Long city, which is scheduled for April 28.
The Quang Ninh Department of Tourism will co-operate closely with localities to make the 2018 National Tourism Year a successful event. The northern coastal province of Quang Ninh hopes to welcome 12 million visitors in 2018, including 5 million international visitors, and earn VND22 trillion (US$968 million), the director of the provincial Department of Tourism, Pham Ngoc Thuy, was quoted as saying.
The number of tourists arriving to Quang Ninh was estimated at 9.87 million in 2017, a year-on-year rise of 18%. Of this, international tourist arrivals reached 4.28 million, up 23% against the previous year. Total tourism turnover amounted to more than VND17.88 trillion (US$786 million), up 30%, while tax collection from tourism services posted over VND2.1 trillion (US$92 million), making up 7.62% of domestic collection, also up 30%, according to a report prepared by the provincial Department of Tourism.
