Hanoi Party leader inspects works serving SEA Games 31

The SEA Games 31 will be organized from November 21 to December 2 in Vietnam with the participation of 11 countries in Southeast Asia.

Secretary of Hanoi's Party Committee Vuong Dinh Hue on March 2 inspected the implementation process of infrastructure works serving the SEA Games 31 and ASEAN Para Games 11.

Hue toured the Center for Culture, Information and Sports of Cau Giay district and Hanoi Athletics Palace, where the competitions of wushu and fencing will take place.

According to Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Tran Thi Van Anh, Hanoi is actively training athletes who will compete in the SEA Games 31, while promoting the progress of building and upgrading infrastructures for the sport games.

"Hanoi strives to contribute 30% of athletes to the SEA Games 31 and win more than 30% of medals at the SEA Games for the sport delegation of Vietnam," Anh said.

Up to now, there are 38 coaches and 168 athletes from Hanoi are training hard for SEA Games 31 and ASEAN Para Games 11.

At the meeting, Mr. Hue praised the organizations and individuals for their efforts to carry out the training, in order to achieve high results in the up-coming competitions. He also urged relevant units to well prepare for the SEA Games 31.

He said it is needed to accelerate the dissemination work for SEA Games 31 and ASEAN Para Games 11, closely supervise the construction and renovation of existing sport infrastructure to serve these two regional major sports games, give better remuneration for coaches and high-performing sports athletes, improve their performance by sending them to take part in competitions abroad; and promptly reward collectives and individuals, who have great achievements at the SEA Games 31, ASEAN Para Games 11 and other national and world sporting events.

The SEA Games 31 will be organized from November 21 to December 2 in Vietnam with the participation of 11 countries in Southeast Asia.

Sixteen venues in Hanoi will host the competitions of 20 out of 40 sports of SEA Games 31 while the rest will be held in 11 neighboring provinces and cities.

Hanoi will also host the ASEAN Para Games 11, which will be held from December 17 to 23 with 11 sports. The opening and closing ceremonies of these two sport games will take place in Hanoi.
