The Singaporean delegation was led by Mr. Chuah Hock Seong, Director of Centre for green and eco-urban, national park committee of Singapore.
At the meeting, Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung informed the guest on the city's socio-economic development, as well as environmental improvement, especially the project of planting more trees in the time ahead.
In the next five yeasr, the city targets to plant about one million trees, Chairman Chung said, adding that in 2016 Hanoi planted 210,000 trees and started the construction of 7 parks, including the Kim Quy international standard Park.
More than 40,000 trees across the city were trimmed to reduce the number of accidents during the rainy season, and selected species of trees suitable to the landscape and climate in Hanoi, he added.
According to the Chairman, however, the city's green area has yet met the needs local residents. In the Old Quarters, there is 70,000 trees for a long time.
The Chairman noted that Hanoi is also planning to plant more trees in new urban centers, parks, 2,500 schools and on roads and highways. The Hanoi leader expressed his wishes to cooperate with the Singapore's national park Committee in the transfer of technology in design, planning, farming, building of nurseries, pruning, management, training and relevant human resources, with the goal of building a green, clean and beautiful capital.
For his part, Mr. Chuah Hock Seong confirmed Singapore and Hanoi have many similarities, especially the capital's long-term greening plan unveiled by Chairman Chung.
"Hanoi is turning into the right direction in improving its environment," stressed Seong.
During the meeting, the Singaporean experts shared experiences with Hanoi authorities, introducing the project "City in the Garden" that Singapore has deployed more than 50 years.
The Singaporean side also agreed with the proposals of Hanoi leaders, first of all promoting of the exchange of delegations, and training of human resources.
The two sides also pledged to soon sign the MoU between Hanoi and Singapore on cooperation in green trees.
Chairman Chung affirmed that the cooperation in green trees between Singapore and Hanoi will become a symbol of strengthening bilateral ties more practical and effective.
