Six inspection teams to examine food safety in 12 localities

The Food Safety Department said on March 15 that the National Interdisciplinary Steering Committee on Food Safety started the implementation of the action month for food safety 2017 themed “Safe production, trade and consumption of fresh and raw food; Controlling alcohol and preventing alcohol poisoning.”

The action month for food safety 2017 is themed “Safe production, trade and consumption of fresh and raw food; Controlling alcohol and preventing alcohol poisoning.”
The goal of the action month is to raise awareness of local governments, management officials, producers, traders and consumers of the importance of ensuring the safety of food, especially fresh food such as vegetables, meat and seafood, as well as alcohol.

In addition, it also aims to encourage people to denounce violations of food safety regulations, contributing to reducing food and alcohol poisoning.
According to the direction of the National Interdisciplinary Steering Committee on Food Safety, six interdisciplinary inspection teams will be established to examine food safety in 12 cities and provinces across the country from April 15 to May 15.
The establishment is part of activities during the action month for food safety 2017.
Twelve localities to be inspected include Lao Cai, Lai Chau, Hanoi, Hung Yen, Quang Nam, Da Nang, DakLak, Gia Lai, NinhThuan, Phu Yen, HCM City and Ben Tre.
The teams will gather representatives from the Ministries of Health, Agriculture and Rural Development, and Industry and Trade, as well as relevant ministries and agencies.
Besides, the interdisciplinary steering committees on food safety of cities and provinces will build inspection plans in their localities and implement the approved plans before May 15.
The inspection will coverfoodproduction, processing facilities, as well as shops and traditional markets.
