In 2016, Chi Pu, a rising star in Vietnamese showbiz, was named winner of the Rising Star Award at the 2016 Asia Artist Awards in South Korea. The 23-year-old singer-turned-actress is known for her role in the 2015 Vietnamese film Yeu (Love) by director Viet Max, in which she co-starred with her real-life partner Gil Le to tell the story of a lesbian romance that developed from childhood friendship.

Chi Pu also wrote the screenplay, directed, and starred in the Vietnamese series Tinh day toi thay minh trong ai (Wake Up), which has been released on YouTube since the beginning of this year.
The hit series landed Chi Pu’s name amongst the ranks of influential Vietnamese artists with a fan base admiring her talent and unrelenting efforts to prove her worth. The 2016 Asia Artist Awards is Chi Pu’s first international recognition since her 2009 debut.
