The Ministry of National Defense on January 8 in Ha Noi convened a conference to sum up the building of border patrol routes in the first phase (2006-2010) and implement the mission in the next phase.
The construction of border patrol roads was fulfilled on schedule in spite of numerous challenges such as dangerous terrain and harsh weather conditions.
The border patrol roads were built in connection with border belt roads and transport roads and have generated a preferential transportation system in border communes. These roads have contributed to socio-economic development and poverty reduction for local ethnic minorities.
Addressing the event, PM Nguyen Tan Dung highlighted the great contributions of the Ministry of National Defense in particular and the national armed forces in general.
PM Dung asked the Ministry of National Defense to supplement and finalize the second phase of the project and pay due attention to forest protection.
“The quality of survey, design, supervision, management and organization must be enhanced in the coming time,” said the Government chief.
PM Dung also tasked the Ministry of National Defense, related localities, ministries and agencies to work closely on site clearance and put the project into reality in an efficient manner.
