Screening of the animated movie “Animals United – Adventure in Africa” within the framework of a screening program of 10 most popular German movies of the past years.
The animals in the African Savanna are wondering: Where is the water? Long ago it should have come through a canyon from the faraway mountains. The animals are getting thirstier and even more worried, since the last little waterhole is defended by grumpy buffalos and rhinos. So the bold meerkat Billy and the peaceful lion Sokrates leave their home to look out for water.
On their way they meet the Gallic cock Charles who has led a polar bear, a kangaroo, a Tasmanian devil and two Galapagos-tortoises to Africa. They had to leave their home and now hope for a better life in the Okavango-Delta. But humans did not even spare this last paradise: hotel owner Smith has built a gigantic dam and uses the entire water for his luxurious hotel. Just here politicians are holding a conference to discuss the protection of the environment. The animals then answer with their own conference to finally defend themselves.
The story of the film is inspired by the book of the same title by the German novelist Erich Kästner from the year 1949.
Reinhard Klooss has been a successful director, screenwriter and producer since the early 1990s. Animals United is already his third directorial work together with Holger Tappe, who specializes in animation films.
