Strengthening research and forecast on regional and international developments
Politburo member and Permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Dinh The Huynh asked the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations to improve its forecast capacity for regional and international developments.
A conference reviewing the 2016 performance and initiating the 2017 tasks was held by the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations in Hanoi on January 5.
Speaking at the event, Secretariat Dinh The Huynh stressed the Commission should work harder to improve its forecast capacity for such strategic issues as policies of powerful countries and regional and international developments.
In 2016, Vietnam's foreign activities have been implemented comprehensively and more synchronized, achieving many positive results, Secretariat Huynh said.
The country fostered its strategic and comprehensive partnerships through high-ranking visit exchanges with China, the US, France and India. Vietnam also fostered ties with neighbouring countries, he added.
The Party Central Committee’s Secretariat hailed the Commission for its quality advice for the Party’s Political Bureau and Secretariat regarding the implementation of high-level foreign activities, and the enhancement of relations with political parties around the globe.
He stressed that the Party’s external activities, especially high-level ones, have played an important role in reinforcing trust, handling the relations with important partners, solidifying the country’s peaceful and stable environment, safeguarding national interests and sovereignty, and heightening its international position.
The Commission has implemented bilateral and multilateral external activities effectively, guided people-to-people exchanges, and sped up communication activities in foreign languages.
Secretariat Huynh asked the Commission to continue its role in the Party’s foreign activities, especially high-level ones apart from improving the management capacity towards efficiency to accomplish all assigned tasks.
In the context of the region and the world will continue having complexities, the Commission should try its best efforts to improve its forecast capacity for such strategic issues as policies of powerful countries and regional and international developments, he emphasised.
