Therefore, the Deputy Minister suggested provinces and cities to coordinate with the Central in organizing big foreign affair activities held in locality, among them, APEC held in 2017, considered as a chance of displaying lands and people, boosting trade, investment and tourism.
Besides, he required Vietnamese representative agencies to observe oversea markets, support domestic market, enterprise to choose investment partners and early warn domestic market of business dispute threats, warn of incapable, technology backward, environment standard-unsatisfied investors.
Referred results of local foreign affairs in recent years, the Deputy Prime Minister said that this work was under a comprehensive development intensively and largely to expand relations with foreign partners, promote trade, expand export markets, and attract investment that practically contributed to the implementation of political, socio-economic goals locally and nationally.
However, the Deputy Prime Minister frankly acknowledged limited achievement in international integration process in the Central and local levels.
To further enhance the effective mechanism of coordination and coherence between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vietnamese representative offices oversea and locally, Deputy Prime Minister cum Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh suggested local authorities should connect international integration with their local development strategy and overall planning.
Local authorities should take advantage of the benefits of international integration, especially international economic integration, to boost trade promotion, expand export market for local goods and services, join regional and global production networks and value chains, diversify partner market, promote technology transfer, export labor and travel services.
Local authorities should coordinate with the Central Ministries and branches to keep deploying external activities regularly and effectively, including the effective use of ODA, FDI, the improved management of borders and the successful protection of citizens, etc.
