On the conference to review Hanoi`s socio-economic performance in July, the leader of Department of Planning and Investment Nguyen Manh Quyen announced that over past seven months, Hanoi has achieved outstanding results in socio-economic development and attracting investment.
The Capital city has actively and synchronously carried out solutions to attract domestic and foreign investment. In July alone, Hanoi approved 40 non-State budget projects with total registered capital of over VND 34,800 billion; 32 FDI projects with registered capital of US$302 million. Two investors secured BT contracts worth VND 5,600 billion.
In January – July period, Hanoi lured 98 non-State budget projects worth VND 68,970 billion and licensed 301 new FDI projects with a total registered capital of US$ 1,355 million; 26 projects under the Build-Transfer (BT) investment form with total registered capital of VND 37,700 billion. The city granted 14,740 business licenses with registered capital of VND 111, 700 billion.
In July, the city’s total circulation of goods and services was estimated at VND 188,684 billion, up 0.4 percent against the previous month and 8.7 percent against the same period last year. In the first seven months, the total value was VND 1,294,596 billion, up 7.5 percent against the same period last year (of the number, total retail sales reached VND 303,632 billion, up 7.2 percent).
The number of international tourists to Hanoi was estimated at 248 thousand in June, up 16.2 percent over the same period last year. At the same time, domestic tourists to the city numbered 448 thousand, up 2.2 percent over the same period last year.
The Capital city has actively completing the general planning, urban zoning planning and detailed planning. By the end of July 2017, the city approved 26 out of 35 urban zoning planning projects, 31 out of 33 general planning projects. Traffic infrastructure works have been implemented on schedule.
The app, iParking was piloted in Hoan Kiem District from May 1. The Capital city continues to implement the program of planting one million trees. The Hanoi Green Trees-Park Limited Company has planted 3,700 trees. In the first seven months of this year, the city planted 138,600 shade trees.
Relating to social and cultural field, the capital city has successfully organized many major events of the country and the city, especially activities to commemorate the 70th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27, 1947-2017) and celebrate the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Laos.
In January - July period, Hanoi welcomed around 5.12 million tourists, up 7.42 percent. Tourism revenue was estimated at VND 34,732 billion, up 8.2 percent against the same period last year.
