The first 6 months of 2017: Hanoi's socio-economic development is comprehensive
Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung has recently presided over regular meeting aiming to review performance in the first half of the year and give feedback on construction, planning and food safety.
According to the report, Hanoi witnesses further development of the economy in the first six months of 2017. Market surveillance is increased, and inflation is curbed. Product sources and retail system are well prepared; as a result, market price is maintained, and there is no shortage of goods or sharply increasing price.
The Capital city also makes effort to improve investment and business environment, encourage startup, creative startup and enterprises development, take drastic measures to improve Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI), increase support for investors and businesses in all processes from business registration to project implementation, and handle their help requests during the implementation process. Along with the support, Hanoi enhances investment, trade and tourism promotion activities, offers assistance for direct export to foreign countries, and increases leadership to handle burning issues in domain of livelihood.
Hanoi’s plan on increasing administrative discipline, improving work performance and creating significant change in implementation of Year of Administrative Discipline campaign in 2017 is issued, as one of city's efforts to promote administration reform. The capital city also increases application of information technology in management and operation, striving to be the leading unit of Vietnam in e-government development.
In terms of culture, society and social protection, Hanoi continues its leading position among Vietnamese localities in national and international competitions for excellent students. The Book Street is officially opened from May 1, 2017 as a culture and tourism destination for the locals as well as visitors. Various activities are planed in preparation for 70th anniversary of the Vietnamese War Invalids and Martyrs' Day; plan on building houses for people having special contribution to the country are completed.
Speaking at the meeting, officials suggested supplement of information in many fields, such as construction of houses for contributors to the country, employment, passive telecommunications infrastructure planning, and urban infrastructure planning.
For his part, Chairman Nguyen Duc Chung requested city’s departments and agencies to assess shortcomings and propose socio-economic development measures, in particular environment pollution like pollution from construction works, garbage area and emission from vehicles. In terms of food safety, he requested agencies to tighten control over diseases and counterfeit alcohols, and enhance healthcare for the people. Moreover, he asked for solutions in the fields of construction order, national standard schools and clinics, support for the poor and people having contribution to the country, water resource quality, security and order in tourism.
