The fourth theater festival ends

After eight lively days with the participation of 13 art units inside and outside Hanoi, on October 3, the Vietnam Performing Artists Association (VSAA), in cooperation with the Hanoi Department of Culture and Information, organized the closing ceremony of the fourth theater festival.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Meritorious Artist Le Chuc said: “13 works performed at the Festival served the audience diversified spiritual dishes of many  theatrical genres such as Cheo, Cai Luong, and so on, telling  historical, folk and modern stories. In which, there were many works promoting the fighting spirit to defend the fatherland and build up the Vietnamese character and human quality in the national innovation strategy.”

In addition, the fourth theater festival has a spill-over effect to many artistic delegations from other localities nationwide such as Ho Chi Minh City, Bac Lieu, and Bac Giang. In particular, the performances of these groups honestly and attractively reflect the life and struggles of the old and present Hanoi people. In addition, in the festival,   many young and talented directors have been uncovered beside the participation of famous ones.

At the same time, the festival also revealed d many young and talented actors and actresses who are ready to replace the previous generations with their great performing skills. The stage was also arranged in a more modern way with the application of many advanced technical equipment to suit diverse topics, contributing to the beautiful performances in the festival.

However, according to the Chairman of the Judging Council, People's Artist Hoang Dung, there is still a lack of new scripts as most of the plays are re-staged works. Moreover, many of them  also fail to reflect today’s reality   and convey deep messages.

In terms of music, the judges said that there was a lack of new compositions. The orchestration between live music and recorded music was not harmonized. On the other hand, the theatrical art design is still poor with the over-exploitation of illustration.

At the closing ceremony, the Organization Board the Gold Medal for 22 artists, including a number of popular names such as People's Artist Trung Anh and actor Hoang Tung in the play "Bach Dan Lieu" by Lucteam, and People's Artist Nguyen Viet Thang in the play "The good person of house No. 5" by the Vietnamese Drama Theater.

The Organization  also awarded certificates of merit to the theatrical troupes  with outstanding achievements in creations on  Hanoi, including: Hanoi University of Theater and Performing Arts of Hanoi with the play "The remained ones"; Military University of Culture and Arts with the play "Hanoi legend"; Bac Lieu Theater Association with the show "The white bird in the night".

The award for the outstanding painter went to Meritorious Artist Doan Bang in the play "The good person of house No. 5" by the Vietnamese Drama Theater. In addition, the organizers also gave several silver prizes to the performances and actors.
