Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc requested stronger and more practical administrative reform from the grassroots to central level during the June government meeting in Hanoi.
He asked the Ministry of Planning and Investment to consider a plan on handing over more authority to subordinates in charge of investment projects to submit to him or the National Assembly for consideration. The PM asked for the involvement of resources, especially in the form of public-private partnership, based on studying models of Quang Ninh, Hanoi and several localities for multiplication.
He underscored the need to lower lending rates as part of efforts to improve business climate to be named among top ASEAN countries in terms of business environment. Ministries and agencies were asked to increase dialogues, deal with businesses and citizens’ complaints, prevent bureaucracy and speed up the progress of equitisation of State-owned enterprises.
The PM agreed with a proposal raised by President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front on dealing with violations in the building of steel-coated vessels while stepping up the prevention of corruption and negative phenomena in ministries, agencies and localities.
Attention should be paid to agriculture, tourism, mechanical engineering and processing, and exports in combination with environmental protection, he stated, adding that ministries, agencies and localities need to stimulate trade in key economic and industrial zones and tourist areas to further contribute to economic growth.
Also at the event, Deputy Health Minister Truong Quoc Cuong said the ministry will convene a meeting with scientists to announce that sea in the central region has been safe. In order to stimulate growth, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue called for devising a plan on economic restructuring with shift to economic models to serve growth.
Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong said the sector is very likely to fulfill this year’s target assigned by the government, given that farm produce export has so far been more than 10 percent higher than last year’s same period.
