Located between West Lake and Truc Bach Lake, Thanh Nien Road has long become the meeting place of young couples.
Thanh Nien Road was previously a dam built in the early 17th century to keep fish in Truc Bach Lake. Initially it was called " Cố Ngự” (holding fast), then it was " Cổ Ngư". The road is approximately 1km long, starting from Yen Phu Slope to the Quan Thanh-Thuy Khue intersection.
The most unique path in Hanoi runs between the two famous lakes of West and Truc Bach. Looking from above, Thanh Nien Road looks like a bridge covered with trees.
After the road was repaired by youth in 1957 - 1959, President Ho Chi Minh suggested renaming Co Ngu to Thanh Nien (Youth) road to recognize and encourage contributions of youth.
This is one of the most beautiful roads in the city, with spacious sidewalks and lush green trees all year round.
Hanoi’s oldest temple - Tran Quoc – is located along the road. It was built during the reign of King Ly Nam De (541-547) with the original name of Khai Quoc.
In the summer evening, people come here for fresh air. This is a meeting point for couples.
For that reason, Thanh Nien road is called the most romantic road in Ha Noi and many people call it the “Road of Love".
