With about 60 booths of food, souvenir and refreshments, the newest pedestrian zone is expected to be on the must-go list of Hanoi.
At 7:00 pm on August 19, the grand ceremony shall be took place. There will be about 60 booths serving tourists on Trinh Cong Son walking street (named after a famous deceased Vietnamese composer).
On the afternoon of August 6, the first booths were erected. According to the plan, Trinh Cong Son Street is the center of the pedestrian space consisting of Lane 431- Au Co street and lane 612 - Lac Long Quan street.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Khuyen, Vice Chairman of Tay Ho District People's Committee said that walking space is designed as an entertainment place for tourists and the youth with the aim of developing tourism activities around the West Lake.
At the walking street, visitors can enjoy the artistic performances such as love duet and water puppet shows as well as Trinh Cong Son music at a 2,000 square meter outdoor stage.
There will be about 60 stalls selling souvenirs, food and drink to serve tourists. The booth will be designed to simulate the architecture of Hanoi Old Quarter, Hoi An and regional culture.
Pedestrian can visit this space from 7:30 pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
According to Mr. Khuyen, Tay Ho attempts to establish a cultural environment to attracts domestic and foreign visitors to the West Lake's walking street. “From the organization experience of the Old Quarter’s walking street, we shall focus on social order and security assurance, as well as environment protection”.
The Organizing Committee of the Walking Street affirms that publicity hotlines will be available for visitors’s feedbacks; meanwhile, the art performance, food and beverage recommendations will be selected. In addition, the residence’s daily life shall not be affected and they will be provided with a card for convenient travelling in the area. The parking lots are also arranged outside the pedestrian street.
In advance, Hanoi authority has lanched a pedestrian space around Hoan Kiem Lake, becoming the first walking street of the city. The zone soon turns into a Hanoian's favorite site at the weekend.
