The collection, curated by renowned artist and curator Tran Luong, includes nine artworks centralized around women. Artist Nguyen The Hung has combined images of models with popular decorative patterns from Vietnam’s historic architecture in these pieces. This blend reflects his perspectives on things taking place in modern-day society, including the constant integration and conflict between traditional and modern elements, the concern about human rights, gender equality, the relationship between man and woman, and how these reciprocals alter core values and attitudes.
Born in 1981 in Tuyen Quang, artist Nguyen The Hung has had 8 solo exhibitions and 11 group exhibitions. With refined skills and sense of sight, his artworks always evoke visitors’ feelings about social issues.
This satellite exhibition runs in parallel with the main AIA Vietnam Eye at Casa Italia, Hanoi. Within the project, the publication titled “Vietnam Eye: Contemporary Vietnamese Art” featuring 56 artists was also published.
