The 19th Toyota Classics themed “Opera with a Twist” took place at the Municipal Theatre of Ho Chi Minh City on November 11.
The event was co-organised by Toyota Asia Pacific, Toyota Vietnam and the Vietnam Performing Arts Centre under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
This year’s concert featured the Baltic Neopolis Orchestra, one of the most unique orchestras of Poland, along with the talented conductor and violist Vaske Vassilev.
The concert comprised seven performances, including world-renowned opera works of like Turandot and Madam Butterfly, which rearranged by the Bristish-Singaporean composer Pamela Tan Nicholson.
The highlight of the concert was the special performance of the song “ASEAN Solidarity” to honour the solidarity of ASEAN countries. It was performed byHCM City’s student assembly.
Vietnamese singer Tung Duong also performed in the concert.
Toyota Classics 2016 is one of the most anticipated musical events of the year. After 18 years, the event has contributed to promoting classical music and the cultural exchange of Vietnam’s talents and well-known international artists.
Total ticket proceeds of the concert were given to charity, activities to support the country’s cultural and arts development. Since 2009, ticket proceeds have been granted to the “Toyota Scholarship for Vietnamese Young Music Talents.
