Vietnam actively participates in UN peace-keeping activities

Vietnamese peacekeepers in the United Nations’ peace-keeping missions have performed their tasks and coordinated well with foreign colleagues, heard a conference in Hanoi on August 18.

The Vietnam Peacekeeping Centre held a conference to review two years of Vietnam’s engagement in United Nation peace-keeping activities in Hanoi on August 18.
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army Sen. Lt. Gen. Vo Van Tuan required relevant offices and units to overcome difficulties to implement their peace-keeping tasks as the work being a key policy of the State and the army.
He asked the Vietnam Peacekeeping Centre to work closely with involved agencies to send more individual officers and study the possibility of deploying units at peacekeeping missions abroad to ensure security and safety.

The report of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Centre showed that the participation of Vietnamese officers in the United Nations’ peace-keeping missions has helped improve the image of Vietnam and its soldiers in the hearts of international friends.
From 2014-2016, Vietnam has sent 12 officers to the UN’s peacekeeping missions, including three to South Sudan and two to the Central African Republic.
Vietnamese peacekeepers have fulfilled their tasks and coordinated well with foreign colleagues, according to the Vietnam Peacekeeping Centre.
The Vietnam Peacekeeping Centre has also worked with the Defence Ministry’s offices to step up training and preparations for the deployment of a level-2 field hospital and a sapper company to join the UN’s peacekeeping activities.
