Under the deal, the USTH will work with Vietnam Airlines in carrying out introduction and enrollment for the programmes. The university will prepare facilities, lecturers and programme operation.
Vietnam Airlines committed to annually recruiting 30 graduates of the bachelor programme to work at the VAECO during 2018 - 2022. It will send qualified staff to attend the master programme at the USTH.
Trainees of the two programmes will be provided with sufficient studying materials, while European and Vietnamese lecturers, as well as programme coordinators, will be facilitated travel between Paris (France) and Hanoi during 2018 - 2023.
At the signing ceremony, Duong Tri Thanh, General Director of the Vietnam Airlines Corporation, highlighted that the company is working to develop its aeronautical staff due to the aircraft fleet’s growth.
Vietnam Airlines expects sound cooperation with the USTH which forms a basis for the country to become the regional leading aircraft maintenance center, Thanh highlighted.
Patrick Boiron, USTH Rector, said that the university targets to become an excellent technical training center in the region, which can provide high-quality human resources to meet Vietnam’s socio-economic development, and aeronautics is billed as key training programme of the university.
According to the International Air Transport Association, between 2015 and 2035, Vietnam is among the five fastest-growing aviation markets in the world. From 2012 - 2016, the number of domestic passengers grew more than 130 percent to 28 million last year. Vietnam Airlines recently welcomed its 200 millionth passenger after more than two decades of operation.
The increasing demand for air travel has resulted in more employment opportunities in the sector. However, Vietnam’s aviation industry has only met 40 percent of human resources. The USTH is one of the few universities providing a workforce for this industry, helping domestic airlines reduce expensive costs of hiring foreign workers.
