Besides top 10 hot destinations for US travelers in 2019, Vietnam has been named among the top 10 off-the-beaten-path or emerging destinations by the US Tour Operators Association (Ustoa) members.
Vietnam has been named among the top 10 hot destinations for US travelers in 2019 by the US Tour Operators Association (Ustoa), according to an article themed “Where will US travelers explore in 2019? Top trends, destinations and anniversaries” published on USA Today, a US newspaper.
Accordingly, the ranking was based on a recent survey conducted by PriceWaterhouseCoopers and the tour operator members of the Ustoa.
Italy tops the list, followed by Iceland, Japan, Vietnam, Australia, France, Spain, Colombia, Cambodia and Portugal.
Besides top 10 hot destinations for US travelers in 2019, Vietnam has been named among the top 10 off-the-beaten-path or emerging destinations by Ustoa members.
“It’s interesting to see five destinations – Iceland, Cambodia, Colombia, Vietnam and Portugal – appear on both the hot destinations and emerging destinations lists,” says Terry Dale, president and CEO of Ustoa. “This tells us that off-the-beaten path travel experiences continue to grow in popularity.”
On the travel trends for 2019, about 82% of Ustoa’s members are offering art and culture travel experiences. The art and culture category was the highest ranked experiential tour type last year based on sales volume.
Arrivals to Vietnam by road, air in 2018 recorded on-year increases of 59.6% and 14.4%, respectively, while growth was also seen in the number of visitors from all five continents.
In 2018, increases were recorded in the number of holidaymakers from most markets, particularly South Korea (44.3%), China (23.9%), Taiwan – China (15.9%), Thailand (15.8%), Malaysia (12.4%), Japan (3.6%) and Singapore (3.1%).
