At the event held by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) from November 12-27, the Vietnamese delegation made proposals focusing on how to ensure harmonisation between the use of radio frequency of Vietnam and other nations worldwide and protect Vietnam’s interests in allocating and planning radio frequency.The delegation joined other Asian Pacific countries to contribute joint opinions during the conference.
According to Director of the Authority of Radio Frequency Management Doan Quang Hoan, the event is one of the ITU’s activities organised every three or four years. It aims to review and revise radio regulations, international legal documents on the use and management of the radio-frequency spectrum and satellite orbits.
The agenda of this year’s conference was firstly discussed at the WRC - 07 conference, approved at WRC -12 and adopted by the ITU council three years ago, he said.
It focuses on additional allocation of frequency bands for broadband radio communications, satellite communications and modification of regulations related to frequency and satellite orbit management.
Vietnam has been elected to the Radio Regulations Board (RRB) under the ITU and Director Doan Quang Hoan was chosen to represent Vietnam for the 2015-2018 term.
The RRB is an important agency of the ITU responsible for providing guidance and resolving issues related to the use of spectrum/satellite orbits and the enforcement of radio regulations.
