The visit is made at the invitation of Chinese State Councillor Yang Jiechi. The steering committee’s meeting aims to implement the outcomes reached during the visit to China by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong in January 2016, and prepare cooperation plans in 2017.

Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh visited the Vietnamese Embassy in China upon his arrival on April 16. He said the Vietnam – China relations have witnessed remarkable developments in both politics and economics in recent years, adding that 2017 is an important year for the two countries.

He said after the visit to China by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, the two nations will make more high-level visits this year. The Deputy PM requested the Embassy to work to enhance the bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, diplomatic affairs, people-to-people exchange, and tourism.

Exchanged relations, cooperation between ministries, sectors and localities of the two countries are promoted; cooperation in many fields such as economy, trade, investment and tourism continue to be strengthened.
