Vietnam Internet Forum 2017 to take place in Hanoi for the first time

Vietnam Internet Forum (VIF) 2017 will take place in two days (November 27-28) in Hanoi.

The Vietnam Internet Forum 2017 will take place at the Hanoi Museum on the theme #Digital For Good. In which, there will be discussion on the Internet contribution to a creative, sustainable and open society through specific sessions from Electrical Governance, Open Data to Smart Cities, and Social Network Development. This is also an opportunity to connect senior economic leaders, investors, enterprises and the civil society.
Based on the idea of Stockholm Internet Forum, this event takes place on the occation of 20th anniversary since the Internet appearance in Vietnam by the Sweden Embassy together with partners such as UNESCO, UNDP, Vietnam Internet Association, Internet Academy - Lund University, University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Sharing about the experience of internet development and governance in Sweden, the Ambassador of Sweden to Vietnam, Mr. Peric Hogberg said: "First, Sweden has a larger area than Vietnam, but the population is only 10 million people, the government must firsly ensures the optimism of people access to Internet information. Second, in addition to government agencies, businesses and communities are constantly innovating on the latest technologies, and making every effort to apply this technology while keeping up-to-date, exploring and finding solutions for different areas such as e-government, economy, consumption ... Third, we always promote openness, transparency and information approach for everyone."
Mrs. Do Thi Thanh Huyen, Policy Analysis Specialist (UNDP), said that Internet plays as an important component of the Revolution 4.0 to provide effective information for people and businesses. The electronic management process in Vietnam is facing up with both advantages and disadvantages. This is a matter for representatives from UNDP to address in the framework of VIF 2017, as well as the process of business development, production technology development and innovation for sustainable goals.
Mr. Vu The Binh, vice president and general secretary of the Vietnam Internet Association, said: "Vietnam has had a tremendous growth in Internet infrastructure and technology over the past 20 years. The percentage of Internet users in Vietnam now accounts for up to 52%. This rapid development brings many benefits, accompanied by other risky issues such as provision of unauthorized information ... This forum with multi content and interactive mode will be a positive step contributing to the further development in the next 5-10 years. "
Among the speakers from Sweden or with Swedish connection are: Denis Brunetti, President of Ericsson Vietnam, Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia; Andreas Mattsson, Lecturer in journalism, Lund University; Måns Svensson, Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer, Lund Universityn; Johannes Schildt, Co-Founder and CEO at KRY.
Side events will display a variety of digital innovations and solutions. The evening reception offers a chance to immerse in discussion and networking with senior business leaders, policy makers and investors.
