Vietnam Int’l Travel Mart 2022 scheduled to open in late March

The event seems like a milestone to mark Vietnam's reopening journey in the new normal.

The annual Vietnam International Travel Mart (VITM) 2022, the big event of the tourism industry, will be held in Hanoi from March 31 to April 3 to announce the reopening of both inbound and outbound travel with specific routes.

The highlight of the mart will be a forum titled “Tourism Recovery: New Orientation- New Action”, affirming the determination of tourism leaders in bringing the industry back to the “new normal”.

“VITM Hanoi 2022 marks a special moment of Vietnam tourism industry post-Covid-19. Some nationwide action plans to fully restore tourism, both inbound and outbound, will be announced at VITM Hanoi 2022,” according to Vu The Binh, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association.

The event is expected to gather around 450 exhibitors from Vietnam and four regional countries and territories including Thailand, South Korea, Japan, and Taiwan to set up some 350 booths at the week-long mart.

Being usually organized in early Summer, the annual VITM trade fair provides travel businesses and localities with opportunities to boost travel demand and promote their products and tourist attractions through selling booths and other tourism promotion events such as press conferences and seminars, among others.

Vietnam is set to fully reopen to inbound and outbound tourism on March 15. The country has resumed commercial flights to 20 of 28 countries and territories that it had direct flights to before the pandemic.

Under current regulations, fully vaccinated people and those who have recovered from Covid-19 need to self-isolate for three days after arriving in Vietnam. Everyone, except children below two, must test negative for the novel coronavirus using the PCR method no more than 72 hours before departure. To facilitate the stay, Vietnam's authorities have suggested no self-isolation from the fully reopening.
