The 2nd Vietnam-Japan Culture and Trade Exchange Programme will be held at Luu Huu Phuoc park in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho from November 11-13, the organising board announced at a press conference in the city on November 1.
According to the organisers, this year’s exchange programme will feature some 70 booths, 20 of which introduce Japanese culture and products.
On display are mainly farm and industrial products, tourism services, food, pharmaceutical products, education and employment consultation services, consumer goods, and souvenirs.
On display at Japanese pavilions include agricultural products, seeds, lubricant, automobiles, overseas education consultancy, pharmacy, labour export consultancy, consumer goods, souvenirs, gifts, hotels and tourism products.
Vietnamese pavilions will showcase the country’s special cultural identities like handicrafts, calligraphic pictures, specialities of the western region and Vovinam (Martial Arts of Vietnam).
Two important economic events will be organised during the festival. The annual Mekong Delta investment conference will be held on November 11 with the participation of around 80 international organizations and businesses from Japan, Hong Kong, Israel, Australia, the Republic of Korea, China, Taiwan, Singapore, the UK and the Netherlands and 300 Vietnamese businesses.
A Vietnam-Japan trade exchange conference will take place on November 12 involving 40 Japanese businesses from the fields of agriculture, information technology, hotels, restaurants, production, trade, services, education, health, and information and communications technology.
Visitors to the festival will also have a good chance to gain better understanding about cultural identities of the two countries.
About 26 Japanese artists will join 103 Vietnamese artists in 33 art performances, which are part of the event.
The programme is expected to lay a foundation for trade and investment activities of Japanese enterprises in Can Tho and the Mekong Delta region in general, according to Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Truong Quang Hoai Nam.
Many localities in the region have recently exerted their efforts to draw Japan's investment, he added.
