Vietnam Airlines reschedules flights from Vietnam to Europe
The national carrier Vietnam Airlines will re-route flights between Vietnam and Europe to avoid the Middle East region, where geopolitical tensions are rising. The rerouting will ensure the safety of travelers, but will add 15 minutes to journeys and increase operating costs.
The policy will remain in place until the tensions are defused. Vietnam Airlines encourages passengers and customers to check the company's website for updates.

Vietnam's first trauma life support center opens
Vietnam's first International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) Training Center was inaugurated by the Ministry of National Defence's 175 Military Hospital on April 15. It is also the fifth trauma life support training center in Southeast Asia.
According to hospital's director Tran Quoc Viet, the center's staff had been undergoing training for 15 months. In January, 110 people were certified to work here.
Viettel, VNPT granted licences to operate 5G network
The Ministry of Information and Communications on April 15 granted licences to telecom companies Viettel and VNPT to develop and provide a 5G service network in Vietnam. Both companies are expected to operate their networks by the end of 2024.
Viettel and VNPT had secured the licences from the ministry to operate the 5G network in Vietnam for a total of VND10 trillion (more than US$400 million).
Three Vietnamese cities among the 100 best cities for strolling
Hanoi, the ancient city of Hoi An and Ho Chi Minh City have made the list of the 100 best walking cities in the world, published by travel website GuruWalk.com. The ranking is based on booking and search data from 800 cities in 120 countries worldwide from April 2023 to April 2024.
Hanoi, known for its long cultural history, ancient architecture and vibrant markets, is ranked 42nd in the world. The ancient city of Hoi An in the central region is ranked 87th. Ho Chi Minh City comes in at 99th.
Brazil leads in corn supply to Vietnam
The General Department of Customs reported on April 15th that Brazil is the largest corn supplier to Vietnam in the first three months of 2024, with a total output reaching 1.49 million tons, accounting for 53.4% of the total volume, equivalent to US$381.27 million, making up 54.3% of the country's total corn import turnover. Argentina came in second, with total production in 3 months reaching 728,759 tons (26.2%), equivalent to US$178.79 million.
Competition to learn Korean literature held in Vietnam
On April 16, the Korean Cultural Center in Vietnam will launch a drama competition to stage Korean literary works, bringing together 14 teams of Vietnamese students majoring in Korean language and Korean studies from eight universities in Hanoi. The competition teams will perform unique Korean literary works such as Dangun Mythology, Kongjwi and Patjwi to introduce Korean literature to Vietnamese youth.
