Apple CEO Tim Cook begins two-day visit to Vietnam

Apple CEO Tim Cook arrived in Hanoi early this morning (April 15) to begin a two-day business trip to Vietnam. The American executive will meet with content creators, programmers and education specialists to discuss how Apple products are being used in the country.

Since 2019, Apple has invested around VND400 trillion (US$15.9 billion) in Vietnam.

International travel event in Hanoi draws 80,000 visitors over four days

The Vietnam International Travel Mart 2024, held in Hanoi from 11-14 April, attracted more than 80,000 visitors and sold around VND180 billion ($7.2 million) worth of goods and services. Nearly 4,000 Vietnamese and foreign companies took part in the fair, conducting some 12,000 business-to-business meetings.

During the event, 23 tourism promotion meetings were organized to bring together travelers, tourism businesses and authorities to boost the performance of the tourism sector.

Night train tour launched in Da Lat to boost local tourism

State-owned Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR) launched a night city tour by train in Da Lat, the capital of the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, on April 14. The route will take travelers around the city at night, giving them a new experience and boosting tourism in the city and province.

The night train runs between Da Lat and Trai Mat stations, covering a distance of 6.7 kilometers and taking 30 minutes. The line was built and operated by the French in 1932.

Cultural event held in Italian city of Macerata to promote Vietnamese tourism

The Vietnamese Embassy in Italy and the city of Macerata, Marche Region, co-hosted a fair last weekend to introduce Vietnamese cultural values and scenic spots to locals and foreigners. 

Local authorities and the Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy, Duong Hai Hung, hoped that the fair would contribute to the further development of Vietnam-Italy relations in all fields.

The fair included a fashion show featuring traditional Vietnamese dress, Ao dai, Vietnamese folk dances, and an exhibition of Ferrari sports cars with the theme "Vietnam, the endless beauty" and coffee treats.

No Vietnamese casualties in Iran missile attack: foreign ministry

No Vietnamese casualties have been reported in Israel following last week's missile strike, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on April 14. The ministry asked Vietnamese embassies in Iran and Israel to closely monitor the situation and work out scenarios to assist overseas Vietnamese if needed.

The ministry also advised Vietnamese residents in both countries to take shelter and strictly follow the instructions of local authorities. They can seek assistance from the Vietnamese Embassy in Israel at +972-50-818-6116, +972-52-727-4248 and +972-50-994-0889, the Vietnamese Embassy in Iran at +98 21 22411670 and +98 9306 459 865, and the ministry's citizen protection service at +84 981 84 84 84.

Danang to support farming households with up to $80,000 each

The government of the central coastal city of Danang will provide VND500 million ($19,920) to VND2 billion (nearly $80,000) each for agricultural and aquatic projects that use technology and modern production methods. The city authorities will disburse at least half of the support through the One Commune-One Product (OCOP) program in the city.

The ideas were unveiled at the city's first online press conference to disseminate information on the local government's policies for socio-economic development.
