Vietnam's aviation efforts to reduce emissions
Vietnam's aviation industry is working to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, which is in line with Vietnam's commitment to the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in 2021.

The new generation of aircraft operated by Vietnam's major airlines is environmentally friendly, with advanced technology that reduces fuel consumption and emissions by 25% per seat compared to previous models. In 2023 alone, Vietnam Airlines reduced its carbon dioxide emissions by nearly 70,000 tons, more than 1.5 times the reduction achieved in 2022 (44,240 tons).
Cultural exchange bolsters Vietnam-Malaysia friendship
The Malaysia-Vietnam Friendship Association and the University of Malaya organized an international conference on August 23 on cultural exchange, economic cooperation and friendship between Vietnam and Malaysia.
The event featured traditional Vietnamese and Malaysian dishes, art performances and interactions with cultural experts to help participants explore the unique aspects of each other's cultures.
Strengthening Slovakia-Vietnam traditional relationship
On the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of Slovak Constitution Day (September 1, 1992 - 2024), a meeting was held in the southern Vietnamese metropolis of Ho Chi Minh City on August 24 to show solidarity and reaffirm the close ties between the two peoples.
In recent years, Slovakia has been an important partner of Vietnam in Central and Eastern Europe, and the two-way trade has steadily risen yearly.
Dak Lak celebrates National Day with cultural activities
The Central Highlands province of Dak Lak is celebrating Vietnam's National Day (September 2) with traditional activities such as the 3rd Dak Lak Gong Culture Festival in Buon Ma Thuot from August 31 to September 1, and the 2nd Krong Pak Durian Festival from August 30 to September 2, featuring traditional food, music, and eco-tourism experiences.
National weightlifting championship kicks off in Thanh Hoa
The 2024 National Weightlifting Championships, featuring more than 200 athletes from 26 teams, kicked off on August 24 in the central province of Thanh Hoa. Competitors are vying for 60 medals in 10 weight categories for both men and women. This event is an important evaluation of training efforts and will help identify top athletes for future national and international competitions.
Hoi An highlights cultural heritage with river festival activities
The inaugural Co Co Festival 2024 will be held on August 31 in the UNESCO-listed city of Hoi An, Quang Nam, along the 28-km Co Co River that connects the city to Danang. The festival will take place in Cam An Ward, along the river section through this historic area. It features traditional performances, kayaking, and folk games. The event aims to stimulate tourism and introduce the "Legendary Co Co" tour, showcasing the river's cultural heritage.
Danang organizes Semiconductor Day 2024 to attract global investors
Danang will host "Danang Semiconductor Day 2024" on August 29-30, attracting 400 participants including international and domestic semiconductor companies such as Synopsys, Renesas, Marvell, and Qualcomm. The event will showcase Danang's incentives for strategic investors and discuss the city's infrastructure and human resource development plans to position Danang as a global semiconductor hub.
