Ministry of Health warns of respiratory diseases, especially Covid-19
The Ministry of Health warned provinces and cities on 16th January to be alert for possible disease outbreaks and to take measures to improve their management. The ministry urged local authorities to identify respiratory syndromes and prepare all resources for immediate response.
According to the WHO, nearly 10,000 deaths related to Covid-19 were recorded worldwide in December 2023, and the number of hospitalizations increased by 42% compared to November. Other respiratory diseases are also on the rise as the warm weather approaches.
Deputy PM expects more student exchanges between Vietnam and Japan

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang on January 16 expressed his hope for more student exchanges between Vietnam and Japan. Speaking at a meeting with Vietnamese and Japanese students participating in the Young Ambassador Program, he urged them to study and train to drive the two countries' growth and strengthen Vietnam-Japan relations.
There are now 51,000 Vietnamese students in Japan, making Vietnam the second-largest overseas student community in the East Asian country.
Vietnam ranks 59th in global AI readiness index
Vietnam ranks 59th out of 193 countries and territories in the latest Government AI Readiness Index published by UK-based research organization Oxford Insights. In the sixth edition of the report, Vietnam scored 54.48 points overall, up from 53.96 points in 2022.
Vietnam also ranks fifth in ASEAN, behind Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines.
Airlines continue to add flights for Lunar New Year
Vietnamese airlines, Pacific Airlines and Vasco plan to add more than 66,200 seats on domestic routes. A recent report from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam also shows that even though airlines have added 472 flights with more than 92,000 seats, tickets for the Tet holiday are almost sold out on many routes.
As of January 12, Vietnamese airlines have sold from 80% to over 100% of available seats on flights between Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and other provinces and cities during the peak Tet period from January 24 to February 25.
Industrial park financial association launched
The Vietnam Financial Consulting Association (VFCA) launched the Financial Association of Industrial Parks (FAIP) on January 16 to connect organizations and individuals involved in the economic and financial aspects of industrial parks across the country.
FAIP will serve as a reliable organization to protect the legal rights and interests of investors in industrial park infrastructure and enterprises operating there. It will facilitate investment and financial linkages for industrial park stakeholders.
