Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to attend Mekong summits
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will lead a high-level Vietnamese delegation to the 8th Greater Mekong Subregion Cooperation Summit in China on November 5-8, at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang. He will also attend the 10th Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Summit, the 11th Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam Summit, and hold working meetings in China.
Cultural showcase strengthens ASEAN ties
The ASEAN Bazaar 2024, held on November 2 in Caracas, Venezuela, showcased the diverse cultures of Southeast Asia. The event featured traditional music, handicrafts, and cuisines such as Vietnamese pho and spring rolls, attracting large crowds. The Vietnamese cultural displays, including handicrafts and traditional costumes, received positive feedback from guests and diplomatic representatives, strengthening ASEAN-Venezuela relations.

Economic growth projections exceed expectations
Vietnam's economy is set to outperform its growth target for 2024, with estimated GDP growth of 6.8-7%. The forecast is backed by improving regulatory frameworks, supporting access to land for projects, stimulating property markets, and attracting selective foreign investment. The improvement in the Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) in October signals a recovery, while international assessments highlight controlled inflation and positive growth prospects, driving optimism for sustained economic strength.
Rice exports set to hit record high
Vietnam's rice exports in 2024 are on track to set a new record, exceeding last year's 8.13 million tons. With strong export momentum in the first ten months and stable domestic production, exports have reached 7.8 million tons worth US$4.86 billion, up 10.2% in volume and 23.4% in value year-on-year, driven by favorable market conditions.
Youth football tournament attracts record participation
The 23rd Hanoi High School Student Football Tournament kicked off on November 3 with a record 110 teams from local high schools. Over 2,000 players competed in group matches at the Tay Ho Sports Center. The event underscores the enduring appeal of this youth football tournament.
Vietjet celebrates milestone
Vietjet has welcomed its 200 millionth passenger, underscoring its role in improving Vietnam's global connectivity. From January to September 2024, the airline carried over 19.6 million passengers, an increase of 6% year-on-year, and expanded its network to 155 routes. Vietjet targets a revenue of VND70 trillion (US$2.16 billion) in 2024.
