Vietnamese National Assembly’s Standing Committee today [April 2] proposes to relieve State President Nguyen Phu Trong of his duty in the 2016-2021 term.
Trong, 77, who is also incumbent Secretary General of the Comunist Party of Vietnam (CPV), was re-elected to the post for the third term at the 13th National Party Congress in early 2021.
