Patient No.671 is a 33-year-old man and a patient at the Surgery - Neurology Department of Danang Hospital. He is the one who made contact (F1) with Patient No. 524.

Meanwhile, Patient No.672, a 37-year-old male, went to Danang Hospital for taking care of a relative. He is the F1 of Patient No.469.

The two new patients are linked to Danang Hospital, the biggest coronavirus hot spot in Vietnam now, taking the number of Covid-19 cases in Quang Nam province to 46 and of those epidemiologically connected to the outbreak in Danang to 207.

The outbreak began with the confirmation of a 57-year-old male patient on July 25, ending the streak of 99 days of no community infections in Vietnam. It has also resulted in eight deaths, all of them with serious underlying health conditions.

Of the total 672 infections, 378 have fully recovered so far. Among the remaining active patients, nine have tested negative for SARS-CoV-2 once and 12 at least twice.

Among the patients who have been treated, the seriously ill eleven are at high risk of death. Currently, seven people must have ventilator intrusion and active resuscitation, and four are on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).

A total of more than 120,000 people who had close contact with those infected with the virus or returned from pandemic-hit areas are being quarantined nationwide, including over 1,500 at hospitals, nearly 20,000 at concentrated quarantine establishments and about 97,000 at home.
