Lacquer art is a famous, ancient Vietnamese trade. Lacquer paintings with mother of pearl and inlaid sea shells are Vietnamese specialties.
Ottchil means lacquer in Korean. Artists extract the sap from ott-trees as main material for the art works, which feature recondite polish and the unique colours that are drawn from this material. Ott-tree sap is a material that is unique to the RoK’s traditional crafts.
