Vietnam seeks more tourists from major Chinese cities

In 2019, the tourism industry aims to serve 103 million visitors, including 18 million international visitors and other 85 million from inside the country.

The information was announced by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on April 17. Accordingly, the event aims to deploy the 2019 national tourism promotion program and attract more foreign visitors from China to Vietnam.
The event is expected to welcome nearly 300 travel companies and airlines, and introduce Vietnam’s tourism potential, tour packages and development policies.
The organizers also plan to organize meetings between Vietnamese and Chinese travel agencies to intensify cooperation opportunities and increase the number of Chinese visitors to Vietnam and vice versa.
With a population of 1.3 billion, China has become a potential tourism market for many countries. The World Tourism Organisation forecasts that around 220 million Chinese people will go abroad for holidays in 2025.
A 2017 report released by the VNAT indicated that the number of Chinese arrivals made up 31% of the 12.9 million international travelers to Vietnam in the year.
Khanh Hoa province reportedly welcomed the highest number of tourists from the neighboring country in 2018, receiving 173 flights per week. The number of Chinese arrivals represented 60% of the total international arrivals to the province. Meanwhile, Chinese tourists visiting Da Nang and Quang Ninh province made up 30% and 20% of the tourists influx to those cities, respectively.
