Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Minister Ngoc stressed Vietnam’s efforts and practical contributions to strengthening the development of the community and raising the image of the OIF in the region.
He highlighted that Vietnam’s diplomatic relations with Francophone nations have been continuously tightened.
The deputy minister noted that he highly valued the Francophone community’s achievements as well as its contributions to addressing global challenges on security and development.
He also reaffirmed Vietnam’s commitment to fostering solidarity and cooperation in the Francophone community to facilitate the robust development of the community in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as peace, stability and sustainable development around the world.
Speaking at the ceremony, Eric-Normand Thibeault, Asia-Pacific regional director of the OIF, expressed his pleasure at the growing development of OIF-Vietnam relations in 2016, particularly in the field of politics, as the OIF Secretary-General visited Vietnam in October and Vietnam’s President Tran Dai Quang attended the 16th Francophone Summit in Madagascar.
Eric-Normand Thibeault stressed that the OIF values cooperation projects with Vietnam, particularly those on teaching French, strengthening cultural diversity and coping with climate change.
At the ceremony, Nguyen Khanh Huyen, a lecturer from the Hanoi Architectural University, and Ho Thi Minh Trang from Da Nang, were presented with awards from the group of Francophone embassies, missions and institutions in Hanoi in acknowledgement of their contributions to the development of relations between Vietnam and the Francophone community.
