The 2016 AFF U-16 Youth Football Championship is set to get underway in Vietnam, as approved by the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF), said the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).
Accordingly, the tourney will open competing opportunities for U-16 teams of the four countries, which secured their tickets for the 2016 AFC U-16 Final, including Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and Australia.
Time and competition procedures will be announced later by the AFF.
Vietnam were the champions of the AFF U-16 Youth Championship in 2006 and 2010. In 2013, it stood at fourth place.
The AFF also approved plans to organise other official tourneys for 2016, such as the elimination round of the AFF Cup 2016 in October and its final round in December; the 2016 AFF Woman Football Championship scheduled for Myanmar in June; the AFF Futsal tournament, and the AFF U-19.
Notably, the U-20 Futsal tournament will appear in the AFF’s 2016 tourney system, which is considered as a highlight of the game development in the region, enabling countries to promote training works.
