Vietnam to not face Thailand in the qualifiers of AFF Cup 2016

Vietnam gained a place in Group B at the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Cup 2016, according to the draw on August 2 in Myanmar.

Other teams in Group B are Malaysia, co-host Myanmar and the winning squad from a qualification round.
Group A includes Singapore, defending champions Thailand, Indonesia and co-host Philippines.
The Cup match will be organised on November 19-December 17. Cambodia, Laos, East Timor and Brunei are to play in the qualifiers in Cambodia from October 15-21.

 
Coach of Vietnamese team Nguyen Huu Thang has said that his goal is a berth in the final match.
In addition, the Vietnamese team, seeking their second title since 2008, will play in late September in Hanoi.
The team will also attend a 10-day training session in the Republic of Korea before playing six international friendly matches.
