Vietnam tourism to promote at the 2019 ATF

The 2019 ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) is the best chance for Vietnam to raise its role and position in regional tourism cooperation.

Vietnam will host the 2019 ATF, an important annual event on ASEAN tourism cooperation, which takes place in Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province from January 16 to 18, 2019, according to the Head of the International Cooperation Department under the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, Tran Phu Cuong.

The 2019 ATF is the best chance for Vietnam to raise its role and position in regional tourism cooperation. In addition, the event is the best opportunity to promote the image of its land and people particularly Quang Ninh province to international friends, he added.
Many kinds of important activities will be held at the 2019 ATF, including the 23rd ASEAN Tourism Ministers Meeting, the 23rd meeting of ASEAN Tourism Ministers Plus Three, the first ASEAN-China Tourism Ministers Meeting, the ASEAN - India Tourism Ministers Meeting, the 49th meeting of ASEAN National Tourism Organizations (NTOs), the 34th meeting of ASEAN National Tourism Organizations (NTOs) Plus Three, the first meeting of NTOs - China, the meeting of the ASEAN-India Tourism Working Group and the ASEAN-Russia Federation Tourism Consultation.
In addition, the ATF Travel Exchange (TRAVEX) coincided with the ATF in Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province will be a place for tourism product suppliers, international buyers, commercial visitors and locals to meet and carry out transactions.
The TRAVEX is expected to draw around 1,500 - 2,000 foreign delegates, 400 foreign buyers and 150 domestic and foreign reporters, providing a good chance for Vietnam to introduce tourism products and destinations.
The event helps the country promote tourism and lure more visitors from ASEAN’s neighbors. All preparations for the event are being geared up, said the Head of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, Nguyen Van Tuan.
The number of tourists visiting the northern coastal province of Quang Ninh in the first nine months of this year is estimated to top 10 million, an increase of 25% over the same period last year. Of the total, 3.6 million came from foreign tourists, rising 19%, according to the local Department of Tourism.
