Vietnam wins four medals at Int'l Chemistry Olympiad 2018

Vietnam has claimed four medals at International Chemistry Olympiad 2018 (IChO 2018), announced the Department of Quality Management under the Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) on July 29.

The Vietnamese team participating in the 50th edition of the IChO 2018 earned one gold, two silver and one bronze medals.

The gold medal was carried off by Pham Duc Anh, a 12th grader of High School for Gifted Students, Hanoi University of Science, Vietnam National University.

Nguyen Van Chi Nguyen, an 11th grader from Lam Son High School of Thanh Hoa province, and Hoang Thanh Tung, a 12th grader from Le Hong Phong High School of Nam Dinh province, brought home the two silver medals. 

Meanwhile, Phan Nhat Duat, a 12th grader from Nghe An province’s Phan Boi Chau High School, bagged a bronze medal.

The students are scheduled to return to Hanoi’s Noi Bai Airport on July 30 morning.

The IChO 2018 took place in the Czech Republic and Slovakia from July 19-29, with the participation of 304 contestants from 82 countries and territories.

According to the MoET, with the maintenance of 100% of contestants winning the medals, Vietnamese team’s achievements the IChO 2018 continue to confirm the right direction of the education sector in discovering, selecting and fostering excellent students.
