To celebrate the 20th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and the United States of America, an array of art performances themed "Vietnamese Cultural Days in the United States" will be held from August 8-12 in Washington D.C. and New York City.
The event is being jointly organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vietnam Embassy to the US and Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations.
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Vuong Duy Bien said at a press conference in Hanoi on July 21 that the event will take place a lot of cultural activities to boost cultural exchange between the two nations.
Accordingly, the event will launch with a premier folk music concert entitled “Huong Sac Viet Nam” (Fragrance and Colour of Vietnam) on the evening of August 8 at the Terrace Theatre in the John F. Kennedy Centre for the Performing Arts, Washington D.C., followed by other two folk music nights at the Millennium Stage of the centre on August 10 and 11.
The performance is expected to bring local audiences and overseas Vietnamese closer to Vietnam’s culture, people and landscapes.
It will also take place an exhibition titled "Colors of Vietnam" at the museum and library of New York Historical Association.
The highlight of the performances is a fashion show held on August 9 at the Millennium Stage. The show will take several collections of Vietnamese top designers – Minh Hanh, Lan Huong, Quang Nhat and Chula – to the catwalk.
A cultural show “Dem van hoa Viet Nam” (Vietnam’s Cultural Night) and a fashion show featuring the “Ao dai” (Vietnam’s traditional long dress) will be also organised in New York City.
The event is a great opportunity to promote Vietnam's culture and tourism.
