Vietnamese Film Days will be held in Moscow from October 27 to 31 at Illusion Cinema, showcasing five award winning movies from Vietnam.

Director Victor Vu’s Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass and emerging director Dinh Tuan Vu’s Yen’s Life won top honours at the Vietnam National Film Festival in 2015. Vu’s film, based on best-seller author Nguyen Nhat Anh’s short story, took home the Golden Lotus for the best movie, while Yen’s Life won the Silver Lotus for the best actress, best music, best cinematography and best production design.
Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass was also listed among the top 10 outstanding cultural films in Vietnam and it won the best film award at the Silk Road International Film Festival in Fujian province, China. Released in 2015, the film was a cinematic phenomenon at the domestic box office, earning over 80 billion VND (3.6 million USD).
Director Vu’s first work, Yen’s Life, grabbed the Grand Festival Prize at the World Premieres Film Festival in the Philippines in 2016.
Jailbait by Le Thanh Son is one of the highest-grossing Vietnamese movies, earning a record revenue of 150 billion VND (6.6 million USD) following 16 days of nationwide screening. The movie was screened at the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia City from September 18 to 23.
The film festival opening ceremony will be presented by deputy head of Vietnam’s Department of Cinema Do Duy Anh and producer representative of The Beauty.
The Vietnamese Film Days is being held by the Russian film studio, Fest-Film, with support from the Ministry for Culture of Russia, Vietnam Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vietnamese Embassy to Moscow and federal government state-funded cultural institution-cinematic organisation, Gosfilmofond.
The festival is one of the activities being held under the framework of culture cooperation, promoting the bilateral relationship in the cinematic industry between Vietnam and Russia. All the movies will be shown with Russian subtitles.
