THE HANOI TIMES — Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on December 26 praised Vietnamese students for their outstanding performances at international Olympiad competitions in 2025, describing their achievements as a source of pride for both the education sector and the nation.

PM Chinh described the students as “gold star warriors on the frontlines of talent and intellect,” saying their achievements demonstrate the intelligence of the Vietnamese people.

He expressed confidence that they would continue to excel in their studies and training and contribute to a stronger and happier Vietnam.

He reaffirmed that education and training remain a top national priority and the foundation for developing high-quality human resources for sustainable growth. In the current global context, nurturing talent, especially in science, technology, innovation and digital transformation, is an inevitable trend and a strategic priority in the current global context.

The prime minister called on teachers and students to uphold traditions of solidarity and creativity to advance comprehensive education reform. He also tasked the Ministry of Education and Training to work with relevant agencies to draft a project on identifying and nurturing young Vietnamese talents.

Many students won gold medals over two consecutive years, while some bagged gold medals when they were in the 10th grade.

Among achievements this year, Vietnam ranked 4th among 60 nations at the International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad, though it participated in the contest for the first time. At the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) 2025 in the US, Vietnam recorded its first-ever highest achievement so far, with two second prizes and one third prize.
